Meet the team - Carla Watts

This week we meet Financial Services Manager Carla Watts…

Hi Carla, tell us a bit about yourself? 

Hi I’m Carla, I live in Shepton Mallet with Rich my husband who is also the Director at 3 Solutions, along with our two children, Ruby who’s five and Finley who’s one. My dad Tony is the Managing Director of 3 Solutions, so we are a proper family business! 

What’s your role at 3 Solutions?

I deal with all aspects of the company’s finances as the Financial Services Manager this involves invoicing customers, processing and paying supplier and sub-contractor invoices, running the company payroll and managing our pension scheme.

How long have you been working here?

I have been with 3 Solutions since it began trading in April 2012. Prior to that from April 2008 I worked for Albino Builders before the company divided. 

Describe your typical workday.

I do not really have a typical day, as my job is very dependent on what has landed in my “in-tray” and can be quite reactive. As part of my role as Financial Services Manager I check our bank account on a daily basis and reconcile any transactions from the day before, I also produce the customer invoices and process the supplier/sub-contractor invoices that have been sent in. Depending on the day of the week or month I run payroll, process the companies month end figures, run profit and loss reports and deal with outstanding customer accounts.

What’s the favourite part of your job.

It may sound boring but I really enjoy the data entry aspect of my role. I like the fact that when you work with numbers there are no grey areas and everything has a correct answer. That probably helps with my need for attention to detail!

Do you benefit from training within your role?

A lot of my training is on the job, and as we have put in new systems and adapted our way of working this has really benefited me and the overall running of the business. 

Tell us something interesting about yourself!

I play rounders for the Shepton Mallet team ‘Tigers’ in the Somervale Rounders League which runs from May to August. Next season 3 Solutions will also be sponsoring the team kit. I enjoy going to a weekly Kettlercise class and before I came back to work I used to attend Mums and Bugz along with Finley on a Tuesday morning. I really enjoy my Friday’s off work, which I usually spend catching up with my other mummy friends over a coffee. Sounds a bit cliché but I also love spending time with my family and nights out with my friends.
