Estimator, Andy Cressy completes his NEBOSH course

Our Estimator, Andy Cressy has recently undertaken his NEBOSH course, which is a globally recognised qualification, designed to meet health, safety and risk management needs in all places of work.

This 12 day course took place in Dursley, Gloucestershire and NEBOSHattracted people from all different industries, backgrounds and with different experiences but with the same goal of having the Health and Safety of their colleagues at the centre of their role within their businesses.

This informative course covered all aspects of Health and Safety; including ‘Criminal and Civil Law’, ‘Health and Safety Law’ and how this can affect not just the business but also the people within it. In the second week, they also covered everything relating to construction.

At the end of the 12 day course, Andy had three papers to complete to pass the NEBOSH qualification and is currently awaiting his results. The three papers consisted of a general health and safety overview, a construction specific paper and then a site visit exercise. As part of the site visit, Andy had to spot the hazards on site; talk about the implications that these would have, the control measures he would then put in place to control these in the future but also to discuss the impacts on the business if these were not controlled.

The Health and Safety of our employees and our customers is fundamental to our business and this qualification shows our commitment and our duty to our employees by creating a safe working environment for them to work in. Andy can now guide the business along with Operations Manager Kate Lusty who already has the qualification, making sure we are compliant with the law.

Training is fundamental to our business and Andy already has been on the Site Management Safety Training Scheme course, so NEBOSH was the natural next step. Health and Safety law changes all the time so it is important that the team are on top of all the changes, making sure they understand how it can affect them and our business.
