This week we meet Office Manager, Melissa Cave
Tell us a bit about yourself?
Hi, I’m Melissa and I live in Street, Somerset with my husband and son. We’ve been here since 2012 having previously lived in Shepton Mallet. Excitingly two years ago my husband and I bought our first home together.
What’s your role at 3 Solutions?
I am 3 Solution’s Office Manager, this is a recent position which I was promoted into after previously being a contracts administrator. As part of my role I assist the administration staff with responsive repairs and help with customer queries. I also assist the managers with any work that they require help on, and I’ve had a big part to play in the development of our IT system.
How long have you been working here?
I’ve been working with the team for 11 years. I worked for Albino Builders since 2007 and when the company split in 2011 I stayed with 3 Solutions.
Describe your typical workday.
This really depends day to day! As I mentioned earlier, I manage the administration team, help with any customer queries and assist the managers. Carla has recently taught me how to use Sage which I enjoyed from an account angle and I also helped with the changeover of our maintenance system. I also get involved with training and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) accreditations such as Safety Management Advisory Services (SMAS) and FENSA.
What’s the favourite part of your job.
My favourite part of my job is learning new things and I have learnt a lot within my role, especially since my promotion. I deal with a variety of work and each day is different!
Do you benefit from training within your role?
I have completed my Level 3 Business Administration which has really helped me in my role. I also try and learn as much as I can from others within the business.
Tell us something interesting about yourself!
I have a four year old son so other than work my life generally consists of family and days out. We like to go caravanning or away in our spare time.
