Chew Magna office converted into two residential flats for The Radstock Co-Operative

We recently completed an open office space renovation for The Radstock Co-Operative which turned their office space into two residential flats which has created much needed housing in the area.

So, how did we create two residential flats?

The one and two bedroom flats were created from scratch and our team were involved from strip-out right through to completion. We worked alongside a specialist acoustic company because of the complex nature of the flooring structure and the need for sound proofing from the retail unit below. To achieve this we built upon the existing floor with specialist materials to achieve the sound proofing that was required.

To partition all the walls within the two flats we built stud partition walls in wood and steel to create the different rooms and a party dividing wall. Insulation was then added to all of the exterior walls and we also upgraded the loft insulation.

Transitioning from an office through to a residential living area meant that we had to fully consider the electrical and plumbing works. We worked with SSE to supply two new supplies from the roadside which meant that we could fit brand new bathroom and kitchen suites and also install hot water cylinders, making both flats fully operational for every-day living.

Once all the building work was done, our plasterers worked through the properties and then completed a full decoration. New double glazing and the refurbishment of the existing timber sash windows were completed as well as installing specialist fire rated composite front doors to both properties. We finished with the fitting of carpets and vinyl’s throughout both properties creating two residential flats ready for occupancy in Chew Magna.
